Senator Lencter Basilius is currently serving his second term in the Senate of the 12th Olbiil Era Kelulau (OEK). He was first elected in a Special Election held on July 11, 2023, following the passing of the late Senator Jonathan “Cio” Isechal, joining the 11th OEK. Upon his entry, Senator Basilius was selected by his colleagues to serve as Chairman of the Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Matters—a role he continues to fulfill with dedication.
Senator Basilius pursued his higher education in the mainland United States, attending Southwestern College in Lincoln, Nebraska, and later Consumnes River College in Sacramento, California, where he majored in Computer Technology.
He began his professional career as an internal auditor for a computer firm in California, gaining valuable experience in financial systems and technology. In 2003, he returned to Palau to support his family’s business, Polycarp International Enterprise (P.I.E.).
In 2008, Senator Basilius entered public service as a member of the House of Delegates in the 8th Olbiil Era Kelulau, representing the State of Melekeok. He served three consecutive terms through 2020. During his tenure, he chaired the Committee on Energy, Communication, and Transportation (EC&T), served as Vice Chairman of the Committee on Tourism and Aviation, and contributed to several other standing committees.
Beyond his legislative duties, Senator Basilius values time with family and enjoys recreational fishing. He also engages in mechanical work and small-scale construction projects, reflecting his practical approach to problem-solving and community involvement.
