Senator Ann Latii Pedro brings more than three decades of distinguished public service to her role in the Senate. Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Youth Studies from Phillip Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Australia, she began her legislative journey in 1989 as a staff member, where she gained formative experience working alongside the framers of the Palauan Constitution—an early foundation that instilled in her a deep respect for democratic governance and institutional continuity.

She went on to serve with distinction in the Koror State Legislature for twelve years, culminating in her appointment as Vice Speaker during the 11th Koror State Legislature. Her tenure in state government was characterized by collaborative policymaking and a steadfast dedication to advancing the welfare of the broader Palauan community at the national level.

Prior to her election to the 12th Palau National Congress, Senator Pedro served as the longest-tenured Clerk of the Senate, holding the position across three consecutive terms. Her stewardship of legislative procedures reflected an unwavering commitment to institutional integrity.

Now serving as Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Culture and Social Welfare, Senator Pedro leads with vision and purpose. Her legislative priorities include safeguarding Palau’s language and cultural heritage., expanding access to community-based services, and promoting gender equality.
