Senator Andrew Tabelual is an educator turned lawmaker, known for his commitment to advancing education and community development. He began his political journey in the Eleventh Olbiil Era Kelulau (OEK) in 2021, following over two decades of service in Palau’s education system.
His professional career began in 1997 as a classroom teacher at Koror Elementary School, where he served for ten years before becoming Principal in 2007. In 2014, he was appointed Director of the Bureau of Education Administration under the Ministry of Education, a role he held until entering the Senate in 2021.
He holds a Master of Arts in Public Administration (2017) and a Bachelor of Arts in Education (2011) from San Diego State University. He also earned an Associate of Science in Elementary Education from Palau Community College. His background in education continues to shape his leadership in the Senate, where he serves as Chair of the Committee on Education.
Senator Tabelual is known for his collaborative leadership and grassroots advocacy. His legislative priorities include an inclusive access to free and quality education as mandated by the Palau Constitution. Guided by the belief that education is the cornerstone of progress, he remains steadfast in his mission to deliver a better tomorrow into the hands of Palau’s children.
