Hon. Siegfried Bai Nakamura

Siegfried Bai Nakamura, Esq. brings over two decades of legal experience to his new role as Senator in the 12th Palau National Congress. A practicing attorney and long-time public servant, Mr. Nakamura has built a distinguished career in both public defense and private practice, with expertise in criminal law, corporate legal matters, and real estate transactions.

Mr. Nakamura began his legal career as an Assistant Public Defender in Palau and later served as Chief Public Defender. He transitioned to private practice, where he continues to represent clients in complex legal matters. His dedication to civic responsibility and regional cooperation reinforced his dedication to run for office.

A graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara (B. A. Political Science, 1998) and Willamette University College of Law (J. D., 2002), Mr. Nakamura is an active member of the Palau Bar Association and an inactive member of the Oregon State Bar.

Throughout his career, Mr. Nakamura has also held key leadership roles in national legal and governance institutions. He is a former President of the Palau Bar Association, former Chairman of the Civil Service Pension Plan Board, and former Vice Chairman of the Judicial Nominating Commission.

As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Judiciary & Governmental Affairs, Senator Nakamura is committed to strengthening the rule of law, promoting judicial transparency, and advancing responsible governance for the Republic of Palau.
