The House of Delegates has approved new measures to reinforce Palau’s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable resource management. The proposed legislation focuses on marine protection, waste reduction, and the preservation of traditional conservation practices.
Speaker Hon. Gibson Kanai praised the Delegates for their unified stance, stating that “Palau’s natural environment is our greatest inheritance—protecting it is both our duty and our legacy.” The initiative aligns with Palau’s broader goals under the National Sustainable Development Policy and ongoing international environmental partnerships.
The bill will proceed to further review in coordination with the Senate and relevant ministries before final enactment.
